Microsoft has just signed an important agreement with Adobe. Although the total amount has not been disclosed, the software giant will now automatically provide Flash Lite and Adobe Reader with its Windows Mobile platform for manufacturers of mobile phones.
Recall that Flash Lite is a special edition of the Adobe technology aimed at mobile phones and other portable devices, lighter and less greedy to suit the constraints of autonomy and portability. For Microsoft, it is a logical move. Scott Rockfeld, one of the leaders of the mobile communications business, said that Flash technology is a must on the web.
It must be said that Microsoft has clear ambitions for its software platform. Indeed, while 11 million Windows Mobile phones were sold in 2007, the firm has to sell twice this year. Targets that will not disrupt Adobe, since the latter announced that the last year alone has seen take nearly 500 million mobile phones equipped with Flash.
